Mourinho has apparently impressed the United board with the work undertaken since succeeding Louis van Gaal last summer.
Mourinho has lost only six times in 40 matches since arriving at Old Trafford, and could be offered new terms beyond his current deal that runs until 2019, according to reports.
United are sixth in the Premier League, have reached the last 32 of the Europa League and visit Blackburn later today chasing a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
"Now I am in a club where I want to be and so happy to be," said Mourinho earlier this season.
As a minimum I want to stay here to the end of my contract. After that who knows? I’m a football man. I’m very young still. Sometimes you think I’m 75 but I’m 53.
"I am in the beginning of my contract, in the beginning of the process.
"If you ask me if I want to stay longer than three years, then I say yes I would love it, but also I have to earn and deserve that.
"If the club feels I deserve to stay, then I will be very, very proud."
