The five-division world champion ended his career unbeaten in September 2015, but has recently been linked with a return to the ring.
UFC superstar McGregor has called out the American on a number of occasions, and the pair stoked the fire on social media, often posting videos about one another.
Mayweather had insisted he wouldn’t come out of retirement for anything less than $100m and recently laughed off McGregor’s own request for $100m to switch codes. The 39-year-old offered the Irishman $15m for the bout, but his latest comments appear to have ended speculation a deal could be made and the two would face off.

“I've had my career,” he said.
“All kinds of guys from other sports keep calling me out. If it ever happened it would be an easy win for me.
“But I want to concentrate on helping the young boxers I promote accomplish their dreams - and helping my children become the best people they can.”
Mayweather has now turned his attention to promoting fighters and is currently doing all he can for James DeGale’s world title unification fight with Badou Jack.
“I'm a businessman and I like making money but I'm retired now on my record of 49 and 0,” he added.
