Danilo scored the only goal of the game as Real Madrid rounded off their International Champions Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the MetLife Stadium.
The Brazilian’s stunning strike on 79 minutes proved to be the winner in a rather lifeless match watched by over 82,000 people.
He had only been on the pitch over quarter-of-an-hour when he smashed in the opening goal from 25 yards on his weaker foot.
It was no more than Zinedine Zidane’s side deserved after a dominant second-half performance.
Bayern had controlled the first period but couldn't find a way past Kiko Casilla. Thiago Alcantara came closest with a curled effort forcing the goalkeeper into a fantastic save on the half-hour mark.
Armed with a number of substitutions early in the second-half, Los Blancos stepped up a gear and finished the match strongly.
It is Real’s second win from three games in the pre-season tournament having lost to Paris St Germain followed by a 3-2 victory over Chelsea. They now turn their attention to Sevilla who they face in the UEFA Super Cup on August 9.
The European champions inflict a first friendly defeat on Bayern who will be disappointed with their overall performance in New Jersey.

TALKING POINT

Danilo's performance. Real Madrid's £23m defender didn't exactly set the world alight on his debut campaign following his move from Porto but he finally showed his qualities in the approximately 30 minutes he was given to impress. The 24-year-old could yet prove to be a key player as Los Blancos aim for more success this season.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Kiko Casilla (Real Madrid) - The goalkeeper made a couple of fantastic stops in the first-half including a world class save to deny Thiago Alcantara.

KEY MOMENTS

9' - CLOSE! Alaba steps up... just wide! The free-kick bends around the wall but inches past the post. It was a decent effort from the Austrian.
24' - POST! It's a let off for Real as Alaba's delicious free-kick strikes the outside of the woodwork with Casilla rooted to the spot.
26' - SAVE! The ball sits up nicely for Green in the penalty area but the forward's low and powerful shot is saved by the feet of Casilla.
32' - SAVE! The Real goalkeeper is called into action once more as Thiago is allowed time and space to turn in a dangerous area before curling the ball at goal but Casilla is equal to the effort and parries it out for a corner.
51' - WIDE! Real come close to breaking the deadlock through Vasquez whose first-time effort is just off target. The opportunity emerged from a lightning quick counter attack.
56' - PENALTY APPEAL! Real are appealing for a spot-kick and they may well have a case but the referee seemingly disagrees. Morata bursts down the left and appears to be fouled in the area but the official waves play on.
57' - CHANCE! Morata squanders the best opportunity of the match as he screws the ball wide from inside the penalty area following good work from Marcelo. The Bayern defence are appealing for offside - it was certainly a close call.
61' - POST! Real should be ahead. Isco picks the ball up in space and fires a shot from distance, Ulreich is well beaten but the ball smashes against the woodwork and bounces clear.
79' - GOAL! Real Madrid 1-0 Bayern Munich - It takes a special goal to finally break the deadlock as Danilo finds space in a central area and, on his weaker foot, slams it past Ulreich into the top corner!
