Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that Real Madrid have been trying to sign him since he was 14, adding that he will discuss any potential move with his family over the summer.
The 18-year-old was one of the revelations of the season as he helped Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Mbappe scored 26 goals in all competitions and has become part of the France squad, starting the 3-2 victory over England on Tuesday evening.
Speaking after the match he addressed the transfer speculation surrounding him, saying that Real Madrid's reported interest is not a new thing. The Spanish club have been linked with an offer well in excess of £100 million.
"Real Madrid? They have been trying to sign me since I was 14," Mbappe told Canal+.
"We're going to go away with the family and we'll think about what's going to happen.
"We have to sort it out, see what happens with the club too, because I'm under contract with a club, I'm not free. We'll see what's happening."
Mbappe had told Telefoot before the game that were he to move this summer then winning the Champions League would be a priority for him - not a good sign for reported suitors Arsenal.
"[The Champions League] is a dream, a competition that everyone wants to win and that only a minority can win - the most important are the titles,
"That would be much more of an obsession for me than the Ballon d'Or, for example. I want to touch the stars and, when you dream, you do not dream of playing the middle of the table or maintaining it."
Mbappe's international team-mate Ousmane Dembele admitted after the match that he had contact with Barcelona last year amidst speculation that he could be moving on in the summer.
