FT: Germany 1-0 England. Podolski scores a stunner to end his international career on a high. Southgate loses for the first time as England boss, but can take some real positives from this friendly display going forward.

Dier flights a quick free kick over the top for Vardy to chase, but the Leicester forward can't find the touch to bring it down. Bright idea though.

Dier battles his way into a packed penalty area and drills a cross-shot from the right that ter Stegen pushes to safety. Much livelier since the restart.
Podolski can't quite take a dinked pass down and get a shot away... Germany come again and the forward sees a shot from the left of the area deflect into the side netting.
Alli arrives at the far post to meet Vardy's deep cross but can't hook it beyond the keeper frm a tight angle.
Germany definitely waking up here after playing testimonial football in the first 45.
Kimmich deals with Bertrand's left-wing corner and then follows up with solid tackle on the England full back as he tried to make amends for his poor delivery.
Already signs that the home side will pose a greater threat in this second period.
CLOSE! Julian Brandt fizzes inches past the post from 20 yards after Hart had punched a left-wing corner into his path.
Will Germany move out of testimonial mode? Or will England continue to boss it and finally make a chance count?

HT: Germany 0-0 England. The Three Lions have had the better of it with Alli and Lallana both going close.
Weigl shoots way wide from 30 yards.
No doubt which side has been on top in this opening period. England have carved out a couple of big chances too.
BIG MISS! England win it deep in German territory once more and Vardy wastes little time teeing up Alli on the right of the area. The midfielder is clear on goal but fires shot too close to ter Stegen. He should have scored.
Dier steps up and swerves it over the bar.
Free kick to England 25 yards out, just left of centre...
Podolski desperate to sign off with a goal it seems...
Sane ups the tempo on the left and lays it into the path of Podolski who lashes way over the bar from 25 yards.
Cahill with an unorthodox way to clear a right-wing cross, but it does the trick. Replays showing he may have leaned his arm into that. Not many shouts for a Germany penalty though.
Livermore with a poor ball in the midfield as Germany enjoy a spell of possession.
Elsewhere, Naismith has levelled for Scotland against Canada.

OFF THE POST! Lallana surges into the penalty area and flashes a low shot beyond ter Stegen that rebounds back off the post. Unlucky.

England posing all of the questions. Not a great match for the neutral though.
Julian Weigl catches Dier with a nasty challenge over the top. The Spurs man is OK. Weigl has to go off for treatment.
Alli with a good run to latch onto Keane's smart ball to the right of the penalty area. The Spurs man looks to cross, but it's easily nodded to safety.
The last time Livermore featured for England was in a friendly v Italy back in 2012. He's been quiet so far.
Dier meets a Lallana corner from the right, but can only head straight at the keeper.
Who has looked most likely so far?
England trying to up the tempo. They started brightly but it's fizzled out a bit in the past 10 minutes or so.
The crowd entertaining themselves with chants. Not much happening at this point.

Podolski with a first sight of goal. He shoots from 30 yards but it's well blocked.
England's back three untroubled so far.
England pressing high. Germany a bit slack with their passing and ter Stegen hooks out of play for a throw. Gareth will be pleased.

England have started the brighter of the sides in what felt like a testimonial ahead of the kick off.

England work a clever low corner in from the left, but Keane blazes over with a thumping drive from the centre of the box. What a start to life in the England starting XI that would have been!
PENALTY SHOUT FOR ENGLAND. ter Stegen hesitates and it allows Vardy to race onto a loose ball in the box. He goes over too easily as the keeper clumsily bumped into him. Southgate wants the spot kick, but the referee says no.
STAT: England have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last seven games against Germany.
Walker and Lallana combine nicely down the right before the latter over-flicks a pass in-behind that rolls out for a goal kick. Bright play up to that point.
DID YOU KNOW? Germany haven’t lost back-to-back internationals against England since losing seven in a row between 1935 and 1966.
England experimenting, but it's also a youthful German side. Hopefully we'll see some goals.

KICK OFF! After a lengthy speech from Podolski and the obligatory anthems, the match finally gets underway via the boot of Lallana. England in their new 'midnight' blue kit.
Joachim Loew’s side have gone 558 minutes without conceding an international goal. Antoine Griezmann was the last player to score past them in Euro 2016.
Jake Livermore is the first outfield West Brom player to feature for England since Steve Hunt in 1984 (via Opta Joe)
DID YOU KNOW? Germany have lost their last three home matches against England on home soil – 5-1 in 2001, 2-1 in 2008 and 3-2 in 2016. Each of those wins were masterminded by a different English manager (Eriksson, Capello, Hodgson).
Germany have named quite a youthful side - and 31-year-old Podolski, who actually retired from international football after Euro 2016. The Galatasaray forward notched 48 goals in 129 caps, but returns for a swansong tonight. The ex-Arsenal man will move toJapanese side Vissel Kobe after the Turkish season ends.

England came from 2-0 down the last time they met Germany in March 2016, winning 3-2 in Berlin. Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier both scored their first international goals in the match.
England manager Gareth Southgate on his decision to call up Sunderland's Jermain Defoe: "We have got injuries in the forward area and it was important not to look at somebody’s age and dismiss them from your thinking. Jermain’s goalscoring record year after year is phenomenal, but, in particular, this season, in a team that isn’t creating as many chances as other teams, his strike rate is outstanding. I didn’t want to just look at his age and think he’s finished with England."

Germany coach Joachim Low: "It's not easy to replace Podolski in the team. He is unique. He is one of the greatest players that Germany has produced.
Germany are missing some key personnel in the shape of Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler and Manuel Neuer on what is a big night for Lukas Podolski. The former Arsenal boss captains Die Mannschaft in what is 130th and final cap for his country. Manchester City's Leroy Sane also features.
Burnley's Michael Keane is handed his first cap and joins captain Gary Cahill and Chris Smalling in an experimental three-man defence. West Brom's Jake Livermore starts for his country for the first time in five years while Jamie Vardy leads the line.
