Former Colombia international star Carlos Valderrama has said that he would jump at the chance to manage the national team. Valderrama, 45, retired from playing as a midfielder in 2004 after spells in Colombia, France, Spain and the United States.
"I hope that they give me the chance one day and that I will be a success in not letting down those who trust me," Valderrama said while in Cartagena at a promotional event for a physiotherapeutic product.
The former Montpellier, Valladolid, Tampa Bay, Colorado and Miami player recognised that it is easy to be nostalgic about playing days but affirmed that he "always had the satisfaction that I achieved all that I could."
Valderrama's 22-year playing career started at Union Magdalena in 1981, encompassed 111 international appearances and included two awards for South American player of the year (1987 and 1993).
