Jurgen Klopp was effusive in his praise after watching his Liverpool side demolish Maribor 7-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Premier League visitors went into the game knowing that anything but a win would leave them in dire trouble in Group E. But Klopp’s side were at their effervescent best from the outset, opening the scoring through Roberto Firmino in the fourth minute and rounding off the scoring with a seventh in injury time from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“Our attitude was outstanding – we were spot on from the first second,” Klopp told BT Sport after the game. “We scored wonderful goals, played wonderful football and it looked like they [Maribor] were not very good but is difficult to play against us. I love the fact we stayed really concentrated in the second half, we controlled the game and it was a very mature performance.”
The Liverpool manager added:
You can struggle in a game like this if you do not have a 100% attitude, it was very mature. Seven goals was wonderful, but the counter-pressing I was close to celebrating it, it was so good. They are a really good football team and they could not cope with this. All over it was a really nice performance.
Liverpool’s next game in the competition will see them welcome Maribor to Anfield, with Premier League clashes against Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield Town in the meantime.
