Hernan Perez gave Espanyol an early lead scoring in he 7th minute, but Levante came back to equalise in the 23rd minute courtesy of Giuseppe Rossi.
After something of a stalemate, Carl Medjani struck for Levante in the 66th minute to take the lead, from which Espanyol could not come back.
Levante clinched a crucial three points to move a point above now-bottom Getafe CF.
