The Real Madrid stopper has drawn the curtains on a wonderful 25-year spell at the club he signed for as a nine-year-old boy, and will now join up with new club Porto.
Casillas’ departure will usher in a new era at Real Madrid under Rafael Benitez, with reports strongly suggesting that Manchester United’s David De Gea will replace his fellow Spaniard in between the posts at the Bernabeu.
On Sunday the 34-year-old gave his final press conference as a Real Madrid player in which he was visibly upset at leaving the club he has made over 500 appearances for.
But the World Cup winner was given the chance to say goodbye to the thousands of adoring fans in the Spanish capital in an emotional ceremony on the hallowed turf where he has spent the majority of his life.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez posed for a picture with Casillas standing in front of the trophies the keeper won during his time with the club.

Perez then addressed the crowd, of whom some were calling for his resignation, whilst others made their feelings known on Sergio Ramos.
“Nobody wanted Iker out, he asked the club himself. He is the best goalkeeper in the history of Spain and Real Madrid," said Perez.
“Iker leaves Real Madrid as one of the most important symbols in the history of the club.
“Iker is suffering a lot of pressure at Real Madrid. That’s why he wanted to end his career here and move on. As the years will pass by, the fans will realize the importance of Iker Casillas for this club.
“Some fans have not behaved towards Iker. I hope this doesn’t happen anymore in the future. I would have liked Iker to retire at Real Madrid and I have told him that before."
The legendary goalkeeper finally took to the stage to tell the Real Madrid fans: “I am a Madridista and I will always cheer for Real Madrid!"
Perez also confirmed that Real Madrid would play a tribute match with Porto. The likes of Raul, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham are likely to feature.
