According to the Portuguese club, Atletico have met the 35 million euros clause for the Colombia striker’s release and are now set to confirm the deal.
The 28-year-old, who was the top scorer in the Portuguese league during all three of his seasons in the country, will now head to Spain.
Porto have released a statement which confirms what Martinez said last week – that Atletico have agreed to pay the asking price.
"Atletico Madrid informed Porto that they will pay the release fee for player Jackson Martinez, worth 35 million euros," read the statement on the club's website.
Martinez had already said: "I am going there for four years, but I still don't know when I will be introduced.

"It's all ready. I'm going to enjoy spending some time with my family for now and then travel to Spain to introduce myself to my new club.
"I'm very excited about taking this step with Atletico Madrid. It's a new challenge in my career and I hope things turn out very well for me there.
"I'm joining with the promise of contributing to ensure the club follows their evolution."
Martinez had looked destined for a switch to AC Milan but the deal for him to join the Italian giants reportedly fell through.
There had also been interest from a number of Premier League clubs, it is believed, with Arsenal and Liverpool repeatedly linked with a move for the forward.
