Barcelona first announced they had reached a deal with the Neymar on July 1, setting his release clause at 200 million euros (£178 million) for the first year, 222 million for the second and 250 million for the final three.
Neymar has scored 90 goals for the Spanish club and is part of the their feted 'MSN' attacking trident along with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
"I'm really happy to be renewing my contract with the club; I feel really at home here," he told Barca TV.
Before I came to Barcelona I was obviously already well aware that they were a massive club.
"The players here are incredible and, from the outside, that intimidated me a bit before I joined.
"But as soon as I walked into the dressing room it was clear how down-to-earth they were. I was really struck by that, and it helped me to settle in."

REACTION

CONTEXT

The nature of his signing, however, has brought the club and player prolonged legal problems.
Neymar and his father had to testify in Spain's national court this year along with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his predecessor Sandro Rosell, who resigned in 2014 over controversy about concealing the total cost of the transfer.
The case was reopened in September after Spain's national court overturned a judge's decision that it was not a matter for the criminal court.

OUR VIEW

It was confirmed earlier in the week that Neymar would sign his new deal with Barcelona on Friday, and so it was with the club able to post a series of highlight reels and graphics celebrating the Brazilian's impact since arriving at the Camp Nou.
It has been far from simple for both parties with the Brazilian persistently linked with a move to either the Premier League or Paris Saint-Germain, but it always seemed inevitable that he would end up extending his deal at Barcelona.
Now the Catalan giants can look forward to many more years of 'MSN' with Neymar not looking to leave the club, as had been reported over the last year or so.
