Report: Barcelona forward Neymar wants to take Spanish citizenship

Neymar wants to acquire Spanish nationality as he approaches the end of his third year at Barcelona.

Sport cites ESPN as reporting the Brazil international will start the process to claim a Spanish passport when he is able to do so this summer.

Agent Wagner Ribeiro has confirmed Neymar wants to take dual nationality, and when completed, Barca will have space for another non-EU player - with only three allowed as per La Liga regulations.

Sport notes Neymar’s desire for dual nationality is in no way related to the forward’s current tax or legal issues.
