Real Madrid restored their lead over Barcelona at the top of La Liga with a 3-1 win over Osasuna, but the victory was overshadowed by a shocking leg break.
Tano Bonnin suffered the horrific injury in the first half, clashing with Isco and breaking his leg in the process. The incident shocked a number of the Osasuna and Real Madrid players, although the away side took the lead soon after through Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sergio Leon equalised just after the half-hour mark, making the most of a Real Madrid backline struggling to adapt to a three-man shape. Zinedine Zidane changed things at the break, with the away side side looking much more comfortable after the restart.
Isco’s goal put Real back in front after 62 minutes, before Lucas Vazquez’s stoppage time goal completed the scoring to put Zidane’s side one point ahead of Barcelona’s at the top of La Liga, with two games in-hand still to play.

TALKING POINT

Did Zinedine Zidane get away with one? Much of the first half, from a spectator’s perspective, was spent trying to decipher what formation and shape Real Madrid were playing in. The three-man defence did them no favours, with Osasuna ripping them to pieces in the wide areas. It wasn’t until the break that Zidane made the changes they so desperately needed. Even then, Real Madrid were far from convincing in the second half as well. So did Zidane get away with one?

MAN OF THE MATCH

Isco (Real Madrid): The Real Madrid playmaker was involved in the unfortunate leg-breaking clash with Tano, but was also the man who decided this game for the away side. Isco’s goal in the second half saw the visitors reclaim the lead, and from that moment on Real Madrid never looked back. Everything they did well flowed through Isco, even if he could have been involved in the overall play a bit more.

57’ - DANILO INJURY! This could be another serious injury. The stretcher is out for Danilo after a challenge on the Brazilian full back by Garcia. He's going to have to come off here.
62’ - GOAL! Osasuna 1-2 Real Madrid. Real Madrid have regained the lead! Isco capitalises sharply on a loose ball in the area and finds the bottom corner of the far corner with a low finish.
93’ - GOAL! Osasuna 1-3 Real Madrid. The points are in the bag for Real Madrid! Vazquez is played in and finds the net with a cheeky chip over the Osasuna goalkeeper. And that will be that. The away side will collect the three points.
