Brazilian striker Neymar will officially extend his contract with Barcelona until June 2021 on Friday.
Barcelona had originally confirmed that their player would sign a new deal back in July, but confirmed on Monday that the paperwork will be signed this week.
No official word has been received on his new wages, but they are expected to dwarf the relatively low £77,000-a-week figure of his previous contract.
The Brazilian is rumoured to have been asking for an astonishing five times that number, and widespread reports claim that his new deal is worth €25,000,000 a year - or £435,000 a week.
Other reports claim he'll be paid a more modest £230,000-a-week, which would put him half-way between Lionel Messi (£255,000) and Luis Suarez (£200,000). WIth Spanish player salaries generally reported after-tax, however, the actual cost to Barca could be well above the £230k-a-week figure, depending on how the deal is structured.
The 24-year-old Neymar will reportedly have a buyout clause of 200 million euros for the first year of his contract, 222 million euros for the second, and 250 million euros for the remaining three years.
Neymar, who joined Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos in 2013, scored 31 goals in all competitions last season to help Barcelona win the La Liga title.
