Fernando Torres - I want to retire with Atletico Madrid

Fernando Torres has said that he plans to retire at Atletico Madrid as the club is where he feels 'genuinely happy.'
The striker came through the ranks at Atletico and he was made captain at the age of 19.
At 23 he moved to Liverpool before going on to Chelsea and then AC Milan before an emotional return to Atleti.
At the end of last season he signed a new contract to extend his deal by one year and speaking in an interview on pre-season Torres said he wants to stay with the club despite interest from Mexico.
"This is where I feel genuinely happy," Torres said.
“I am at home. I came back to Atlético after eight years and this is where I feel genuinely happy. My desire is to play for Atlético and retire here while also winning trophies and helping the club to continue to be one of the best in Europe. That is the only option I have in my head at the moment.”
He also spoke about how manager Diego Simeone has helped to remind the club of the values that are most important, adding that he feels clubs like Atletico are now writing their own history.
“Simeone has reinforced the belief that has always been what this club is about. I came to Atlético when I was 10 years old and the club taught me about that. There are always periods in the history of a club when things are difficult and you can lose that identity a little but with El Cholo we have recovered all of our values: sacrifice, humility, fighting spirit… and if we all pull in the same direction we can continue to compete with the big and powerful clubs.
"The big clubs have written their history in years gone by and everyone else now has the opportunity to write new histories in their own way and that is the path that Atlético is on right now.”
Atletico are set to move into a new stadium over the summer, the Wanda Metropolitano, and it was Torres who scored the final Atleti goals in the Vicente Calderon during a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao.
