Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that former midfielder David Beckham will join the club as an ambassador.
Beckham is one of the most recognisable faces in the history of football and he played for Real between 2003 and 2007, during which time he helped them win the La Liga title and Supercopa de Espana.
His achievements paled in comparison to what he won at Manchester United but his big-money move as well as his role in the 'Galatico' era only enhanced his global appeal.
Speaking to Fox Deportes Perez confirmed that he had spoken to Beckham about becoming an ambassador for Real.
"The great players are those who have given us this great image of the club since 2000," Perez said.
"These players like [Luis] Figo, [Zinedine] Zidane, Ronaldo and Beckham, who I have just seen here and was delighted to see him again. They remain our ambassadors, Zidane as coach, Ronaldo Nazario, Roberto Carlos. And now David Beckham too is going to join up with us as an ambassador."
There has been no word from Beckham or his management yet as to whether or not this will happen.
Real have a number of their former players working at the club of course with Zidane as the manager, Guti as the coach of the youth team and Roberto Carlos as a regular RMTV commentator amongst others.
