Bordeaux defender Gerald Cid has spoken of his frustration at being frozen out since agreeing a summer move to Bolton.
The 24-year-old Frenchman, however, is looking to his future in a league he feels is the "best in the world" and at a club he describes as "ambitious."
"I am disappointed and frustrated," Cid admitted. "After I signed with Bolton, (coach) Ricardo explained to me he wanted Joseph Enakarhire and Henrique to play in order to see if he could count on them next season.
"I can understand his decision, but not being part of the coach's plans any more - overnight - is hard to accept."
Cid also went to explain why he negotiated the transfer in advance of his current deal's expiry date this summer.
"I preferred to secure a transfer because my contract with Bordeaux was about to expire," he continued.
"We never know what can happen during a season, for example an injury would have been catastrophic.
"But I don't regret my choice."
He joins the Trotters at a turbulent time, long-time manager Sam Allardyce quitting only two weeks ago with assistant Sammy Lee appointed boss soon afterwards. They have, however, qualified for the UEFA cup for a successive season and Cid is delighted to be part of that.
"Bolton are an ambitious club," he said. "I am proud to have signed with them.
"All I want is to start my new love story with the Premiership on a good note; for me it is the best in the world alongside (Spain's) La Liga."
Bolton finished seventh after a 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.
