Edinson Cavani took his tally to 10 goals in six games as Paris Saint-Germain beat Bordeaux 2-0 in Ligue 1.
Unai Emery's side put the memory of last week's surprise 2-0 defeat at Toulouse firmly behind them by racing into an early lead when Cavani rose to head home Angel di Maria's cross in the third minute.
The Uruguayan doubled the lead on the half-hour mark by helping Layvin Kurzawa's pass into the net with a clever flick of the heel, grabbing his eighth league goal of the season and adding to his double in Wednesday's 3-1 win at Ludogorets in the Champions League.
Cavani became the top scorer in Ligue 1, moving two goals clear of Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette and Metz's Mevluet Erdinc.
"Getting the three points was more important than our performance today," Emery told Canal Plus.
"We had the same plan in both halves but we had more possession in the first half and created a lot of chances.
"The two goals gave us confidence and tranquillity for the rest of the game and we had the same plan in the second half as we wanted another goal to put us at ease. We played with a lot of confidence and played very well."
Monaco returned to the top of Ligue 1, however, after PSG's brief interlude there; they thrashed Metz 7-0 with goals from Thomas Lemar, Valere Germain, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho (pen), Boschilla and a brace from Guido Carrillo.
Dijon and Montpellier could not be separated in a six-goal thriller, with Lois Diony, Anthony vanden Borre and Yohann Riviere scoring for the hosts and Rodrigue Ninga's hat-trick securing a point for the visitors.
Nantes beat Bastia 1-0 while Caen beat Toulouse by a single goal too.
Eder's late penalty grabbed three points for Lille against Nancy.
