The club have called a media conference for 10am (BST) on Friday to unveil the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
Klopp touched down in Liverpool on Thursday afternoon and speaking from his home in Mainz, Germany he told Sky Sports he will be a "Liverpool man 24/7. I will see you tomorrow."
"Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the club's new manager," the club's official website read.
Sky Sport News in Germany broke the story on Thursday afternoon as they reported that Klopp, who will cut his sabbatical short, has agreed to take charge at Anfield “with immediate effect”.
It is reported he has agreed a three-year contract.
Earlier, we brought you the news in Euro Papers that Klopp would be putting pen to paper on Thursday.
Klopp was immediately installed as the favourite for the job following the sacking of Rodgers last weekend.
Sources close to the German, who won back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Dortmund in 2011 and 2012 and reached the Champions League final in 2013, had indicated he was open to a move to England even before Rodgers had been unseated.

Klopp's influence has already been felt behind the scenes with Thursday's news that Sean O'Driscoll and Gary McAllister will not be keeping their coaching positions having only been appointed in the summer.
O'Driscoll and McAllister's exits pave the way for Klopp to bring in his own men - and above all assistant coach Zeljko Buvac, the man who he has worked with throughout his management career.

OUR VIEW

Klopp has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past six months and so bringing him to Anfield represents a huge coup for Liverpool. Klopp's antics and big grin may endear him to the press but at heart he is an incredibly serious football man who is driven by success. In Liverpool he has found another club like Dortmund: working class, seeking renewal and with richer institutions to fight and overcome. It seems like a match made in heaven.
