Defender Michael Keane will reportedly leave Burnley once the Premier League season is over.

The PFA Young Player of the Year nominee, who received his first England cap in March, has stood out for a Burnley side who currently sit 14th in the table – eight points above the drop-zone.

Burnley boast the second best defence in the bottom half of the table (47 goals conceded) with only Middlesbrough shipping in fewer goals (39).

And Keane has been an ever-present for the Clarets this season, playing every minute in the league, but now Sky Sports News are reporting that the player will leave Turf Moor in the summer.

POTENTIAL DESTINATION?

OUR VIEW

The 24-year-old is one of only five players across all 20 Premier League teams to have played every minute of every league game this season. That tells you something.

His centre-back partner, Ben Mee, also falls into that category, and it's clear that their constant presence at the back has helped Burnley to stave off relegation.

Mee is only 27 himself, but perhaps it's that 'peak' age rather than Keane's 'best-still-to-come' age that sees the latter linked with moves to teams further up the table. Mee leads the way in the Premier League with blocks (45 to Keane's 42), while he has made more interceptions (72 to 61) and clearances (297 to 243).

Burnley will certainly struggle when this partnership is broken, but how much Keane leant on Mee - and vice-versa - is yet to be seen until the start of next season. There's no denying Keane's potential, but wherever he goes, he will have to start - or else his progression will become undone.

Breaking into Tottenham's side ahead of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen seems like a tall order, meaning a move to the north west seems more likely. United will be favourites to land the defender, but he could be just what Jurgen Klopp needs at Liverpool.
