Manchester United leave £39m Victor Lindelof out of squad for season opener

Jose Mourinho has omitted summer signing Victor Lindelof from the Manchester United squad for the club’s season opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford
Lindelof arrived from Benfica in June for a deal believed to be worth £39million, making him the most expensive defensive transfer in the club’s history.
However, following a shaky pre-season Lindelof has failed to even make the bench for United’s first game of the campaign, with Phil Jones partnering Eric Bailly in central defence and Chris Smalling taking a place on the bench.
West Ham United have named all four of their big summer additions in the line-up, with Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez all starting.
