Jose Mourinho has told Wayne Rooney to stop offering advice to his Manchester United team-mates until his own form improves, while West Ham and FIFA also hit the headlines. It's Monday's Paper Round...

Mourinho issues warning to Rooney

Jose Mourinho has told Wayne Rooney to ease back on offering advice to other Manchester United players until he deals with his own poor form - according to the Sun. Rooney was dropped from the United line-up for Saturday's game against Leicester City, with the team dishing out a 4-1 hammering in his absence. And it has been revealed that Mourinho has subsequently held a one-on-one chat with Rooney, advising him to stop lecturing his team-mates while his own performances are so sub-standard.
Paper Round's view: It's hardly a shock that Mourinho is keen to reduce the influence of his senior players on the squad, and in this case it makes perfect sense for the United boss to advise his captain against words of wisdom at a time when they probably wouldn't be best received by the team-mates who are likely to be fed up with carrying Rooney through games.
But...
If this was a "one-on-one chat", then where exactly did the story come from? Has Mourinho leaked it to try and convince everyone that he's the only boss at Old Trafford? Or has it come from Rooney's camp?
If it's the latter then it wouldn't be the first time in recent years that private matters from within the club have made their way into the press via a 'senior player'. That would not reflect at all well on Rooney in this instance and his manager is unlikely to stand for that kind of behaviour if it happens again.

'Laughable' West Ham are in free fall

Mark Noble's comments about West Ham United's 3-0 capitulation at home against Southampton have caught the attention of the country's headline writers. "Eleven goals in three games is laughable and it's not good enough," was Noble's summary after his club's latest defeat, while manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that he's baffled by the team's slump in form.
Paper Round's view: It's very early in the season to jump to conclusions, but the nature of West Ham's defeats have been so remarkable it's understandable that Bilic's future as West Ham boss is already being questioned.
Is it a case of the Hammers struggling to adapt to life in their new home? Could it be that last season's success was built on the defensive framework left behind by Sam Allardyce? Or is the run of results simply a result of too many key players suffering poor form at the same time? Bilic will need to find out the answer quickly if he's to keep his job.

FIFA anti-racism task force has 'completely fulfilled' its mission

FIFA has disbanded its anti-racism task force just three years after launching the group - reports the Guardian. Football's governing body has written to members of the task force, saying it has:
completely fulfilled its temporary mission (and) is hereby dissolved and no longer in operation.

FIFA have dealt with racism apparently. Next up, world peace.

Paper Round's view: Hats off to FIFA - it has taken them just three years to succeed where Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela and so many others 'failed'. Good work guys.*
*Clearly this is not Paper Round's actual view and the story is obviously the outcome of a PR disaster rather than FIFA claiming to have solved racism (at least we sincerely hope so).
