Patrick Roberts eyes first-team football after memorable Celtic loan spell

The Manchester City winger helped Brendan Rodgers' side to a treble as their last-gasp 2-1 victory over Aberdeen in the William Hill Scottish Cup final secured an unbeaten domestic campaign.

The 20-year-old played in 38 of their undefeated 47 matches and became more influential in the closing months of a memorable campaign.

His future is now uncertain as Pep Guardiola reshapes his squad - City released five players last week before signing Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva in a £43million deal.

But Roberts, who joined City from Fulham in a potential £11million transfer in July 2015, is determined to continue enjoying his football.

When asked about his future, he said: "I don't know, we'll see what happens. I'll have a break and then go back to Man City and then we'll see where it goes from there.

"I just want to enjoy my football. I want to play every week and enjoy playing football, like I did when I was a kid. If I can do that I will be happy."

Roberts scored 11 goals this season, including one against his parent club in the Champions League, and feels his spell in Glasgow has been extremely worthwhile.

"I have come on leaps and bounds and it's all thanks to the manager and Celtic for giving me that opportunity," he said.

"To win a treble at such a young age is massive for me and I can take that on into my career.

"Not many players feel like this in their career - the invincibles last week and to win the treble this week is some feat. I'm proud to play a part in it and proud to be a part of this club."

Roberts scored six of his goals in the final two months of the campaign as he became a more regular starter and further enhanced his popularity with the fans, who have been urging Celtic to sign him up.

The wide player, who hit the post against Aberdeen after some great skill at the edge of the box, said: "All I can do is just thank them for the support they have given me since I came here last January. They have been tremendous and unbelievable.

"Them singing my name is a great accolade. The fans are brilliant and we showed them how good we have been this season to get the third trophy this season, and they deserve it because they have been brilliant all season."
