Manchester United have been consistent this season. They’ve been consistent in drawing against teams they should be beating.
Whenever they face anyone below them then you don’t feel comfortable that they’re going to win – there’s always that doubt.

Mourinho needs to settle on an XI

I think there needs to be more consistency to Jose Mourinho’s back-four selection, and I think the midfield needs to be sorted out too. Michael Carrick has really made that midfield look more solid. Until they go out and buy somebody to do that job then they’ll need to use Carrick to protect that back four if they really want to cement a place in the Champions League.
But the selection’s not been consistent enough. When Mourinho was at Chelsea he never changed the team… but at Manchester United he’s chopping and changing all over the place. Maybe that’s because he hasn’t brought in enough players, but his constant changes are impacting badly on the team.

Pogba is a problem

Then you’ve got Pogba, who again is very, very undisciplined. He’s trying too hard to try to be the difference. He’s holding on to the ball too long, he’s trying to do too many tricks. He’s definitely trying to do a lot more with the ball than he did at Juventus – although admittedly they’ve got better ball players there.
But he needs to be told what his strength is, and that’s to use his energy.

He should be told to get within sight of the box and shoot and look for crosses into that area in behind – because he’s a good deliverer of a ball as well. He’s not doing that for Manchester United. He’s trying to play this kind of midfield playmaker role, but he’s never going to be that. He needs to change his game.
He’s got that money around his neck, but everyone knows he’s overpriced. Yes you have to respect that he’s a very good player, but I think he’s just got to change around his game a bit and keep it a bit more simple.

Are United a threat to the top four?

I just think it’s difficult to predict where the top six will finish. Except for Chelsea – and Spurs to a point – the other four have been so inconsistent, you just don’t know what you’re going to get with them. Even though United are on this unbeaten run they’re not great.
