Newcastle stage comeback to grab point against Liverpool
Updated 23/04/2016 at 16:56 GMT
Premier League, Anfield: Liverpool 2 (Sturridge 2, Lallana 30) Newcastle United (Cisse 48, Colback 66)
Newcastle United fought back from two goals down at the break to claim a vital point against Liverpool in their battle to avoid relegation.
Daniel Sturridge stunned the travelling support with a wonderful chest down and strike on the turn to put Liverpool ahead in only the second minute, his fourth goal in as many starts.
And the excellent Adam Lallana doubled the lead with an equally emphatic finish, curling an unstoppable shot into the top corner on the half-hour.
Newcastle looked dead and buried but another goalkeeping blunder from Simon Mignolet gifted Newcastle a goal back before Jack Colback fired the visitors level via a deflection off Dejan Lovren.
The result means that Newcastle draw level with rivals Sunderland, who have two games in hand and are just a point behind Norwich City.
