Premier League, Vitality Stadium – AFC Bournemouth 1 Liverpool 2 (Firmino 41, Sturridge 45, King 90+3)
Liverpool backed up their incredible Europa League midweek comeback with a 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.
Jurgen Klopp made ten changes to the side that stunned Dortmund at Anfield but an unfamiliar like-up was still too much for Bournemouth.
Roberto Firmino tapped home the first just before the break after Artur Boruc palmed Daniel Sturridge’s cheeky backheel into his path. And Sturridge then doubled the lead moments later, heading home Jordon Ibe’s free kick.
Liverpool had their chances to kill the game with Sturridge twice hitting the woodwork before a superb Josh King strike set up a grandstand finish.
Steve Cook almost grabbed a dramatic point with a late header but Liverpool held out for a deserved three points.
