Sunderland dragged Norwich deep into the relegation dogfight with a 3-0 Premier League victory at Carrow Road.
Goals from Fabio Borini, the prolific Jermain Defoe and Duncan Watmore gave the Black Cats a win which brings them just one point behind their opponents with a game in hand.
Norwich created the better of the early chances but were rocked on their heels four minutes before the break when a clumsy challenge from Andre Wisdom on Borini in the box left Andre Marriner with little choice but to point to the spot.
The home side continued to press but were caught out again after the break when Defoe tapped home Borini’s cross following a mistake from Sebastien Bassong.
Substitute Watmore made sure in stoppage time, shooting home from a tight angle to cement victory and bring Sunderland on to 30 points in 18th place - one shy of Norwich and two ahead of Newcastle, who beat Swansea later on Saturday.

TALKING POINT: Allardyce full of fighting spirit
