Capello wants Chelsea job

Fabio Capello at Chelsea? The Sun claim that the Italian is hoping to be Jose Mourinho's successor at Stamford Bridge, if Mourinho is fired. Mourinho will get at least two more matches before any potential firing, but if it happens, Capello wants the job. He is in the mix for it too, along with Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti.
Paper Round's view - Of course Capello wants the Chelsea job. It's a prominent club with big ambition. They also happen to pay their managers a lot of money so it's no wonder that he's angling for the gig. Who doesn't want to get paid a lot of money? Especially when that person is unemployed at the moment.

Drogba could join Bologna on loan

Didier Drogba might spend the MLS offseason in Italy. The Mirror report that the striker could join Bologna on a three-month loan in January. Joey Saputo owns the Montreal Impact, where Drogba plays in MLS, and Bologna, and he thinks that Drogba could help his struggling Serie A team. He'll try to convince Drogba to head to Italy now for a few months then join back up with the Impact when the next MLS season starts in March.
Paper Round's view - Saputo has made bizarre decisions before so it wouldn't be a shock if he wanted Drogba to help out Bologna. The loan wouldn't be good for Drogba or the Impact, though. Droba is 37 years old now and needs an offseason to rest his body. If he goes on loan, he'd be looking at 16 months of non-stop football, which sounds like a great way for an older player to get injured or simply wear down.

Garde to be Villa manager

Remi Garde has agreed to become the Aston Villa manager, according to The Sun. The Frenchman met with owner Randy Lerner over the weekend and the two sides came to terms on a three-and-a-half-year contract. Reginald Ray will join as his top assistant, while the club will try to pry two of Garde's former assistants from Lyon, but Villa would have to pay compensation for both.

Paper Round's view - It was clear from the start that Aston Villa desperately wanted Garde and that Garde wanted the Villa job so it shouldn't have been difficult for the two sides to come to an agreement. There were rumours that assistants, compensation and other nonsense were standing between them, but when both want a deal to get done, it usually does. It's good that this did and Garde and Villa are both happy.

Lazio eyeing Ramirez

Gaston Ramirez could head to Lazio in January. The Mirror understand that the Italian club want to sign the 24-year-old and Southampton could be open to a deal. Ramirez has been a massive disappointment since signing with the Saints and is out of contract after the season. Southampton may sell him in January to get something for him instead of watching him leave on a free in the summer.
Paper Round's view - Southampton should be looking to sell Ramirez in January. He's been a complete flop for them and isn't integral to the side. At this point, getting anything back for him is a win and if Lazio really want him, the Saints have that opportunity. The return won't be great, but a small fee beats no fee.

Both Manchester clubs trying for Tielemans

Youri Tielemans could be heading to Manchester. It's just a matter of which Manchester club. The Star claim that both United and City are chasing the Anderlecht midfielder who has been labelled one of the best young players in the world. Both clubs have been tracking the 18-year-old, who is valued at £30 million.
Paper Round's view - Tielemans is a really excellent player. He's spectacularly poised and has never seemed overwhelmed despite being a central midfielder who was playing in the Champions League at just 16 years old. Add that to tremendous skill and you have a player who looks destined for stardom. Whenever there is a player that young and good, you expect both Manchester clubs to be sniffing around so it's no surprise that they are for Tielemans.
