Manchester United willing to pay £40m for Harry Kane - In one of the more persistent rumours of the summer, Manchester United have again been linked with a move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane by The Sun. They say that Louis Van Gaal wants the 21-year-old to spark a similar reaction to Wayne Rooney's arrival at the club back in 2004. Rooney is said to be very keen on the idea himself and with supposed previous targets Mario Mandzukic and Carlos Bacca going elsewhere, Kane has become a priority for the Red Devils. For their part, Tottenham say it will take a "dizzying” amount of money for them to agree a deal.
Paper Round's view - As with Raheem Sterling and so many other young English players, this feels like too much, too soon. Last season was Harry Kane's breakthrough year and while he was extremely impressive - scoring 21 Premier League goals - to spend £40m pounds on him already seems way too much. If he was to have another season like the one he has just had it would be more justifiable. Kane could one day end up as a Manchester United player but it would be a surprise if it was this summer.
Robin van Persie has agreed a move to Fenerbahce - The Red Devils will be needing a new striker this summer, though, as current front-man Robin van Persie has agreed a deal to sign for Turkish side Fenerbahce, say The Observer. They claim that Van Persie’s agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul for the last few days to thrash out personal terms on a four-year deal. The two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the 31-year-old Dutchman but negotiations are ongoing
Paper Round's view - It's clear that van Persie's three-year spell at Old Trafford is coming to an end this summer. When compatriot Louis van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford last summer it seemed obvious that van Persie would be restored back to top form and become a key part in the starting line-up again but that has not been the case. Manchester United are ready to move on and it seems the former Arsenal man is too.

Chelsea to complete Asmir Begovic signing this week - Chelsea's search for a replacement for Petr Cech is almost over with Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic set to join from Stoke, say The Telegraph. They say that Chelsea and Stoke have agreed an £8m fee for the 28-year-old Bosnian, who will fill the role as backup to Belgian stopper Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea leaving for their pre-season tour of America on July 15th, the Blues are determined to complete the deal before then.
Paper Round's view - Getting Begovic to agree to be a backup goalkeeper is an impressive bit of work from Chelsea. Begovic knows he's unlikely to play more than 10 games a season while Courtois is around but still appears willing to move to be part of a side challenging for major honours. The Bosnian has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League over the last five years and will be a significant loss for Stoke.

Daniel Levy flies to Spain to seal Alderweireld signing for Spurs - The Daily Mail say that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has travelled to Madrid to seal a deal for Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld. Levy will hold talks with Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil in the hope of getting the deal completed by Sunday night. Southampton are still hoping to sign the defender on a permanent deal after his impressive season on loan at St Mary's last season but Tottenham now seem closer to sealing a deal for around £10m.
Paper Round's view - Alderweireld would be an excellent addition for either Tottenham or Southampton so it's little surprise that negotiations are coming to a head. Atletico will want to use the two clubs against each other to drive the price up but, as is so often said, Daniel Levy prides himself on his negotiation skills and will expect to get his man.
