Jose Mourinho will have £200m to spend at Manchester United this summer and he has a host of targets in mind, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, John Stones and Alvaro Morata. It’s the top stories from Monday’s papers...

Jose Mourinho will be handed a £200 million 'war chest' when he takes over at Manchester United - says The Express. It is expected that Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will arrive in Manchester this week to conclude contract negotiations with the club, which will be followed by the biggest spending spree in United's history. However, even with all of that money available, Jose's first addition is likely to be a free transfer, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic keen to reunite with his former Inter Milan boss.
Paper Round’s view: As soon as the words 'war' and 'chest' get mentioned you know the summer has truly arrived. Giving Mourinho free access to £200m could be a disastrous move by Manchester United, given his far from successful transfer decisions in his second stint at Chelsea. But a move for Ibrahimovic is a different matter entirely. The forward may have one of the biggest egos in the sport and legs that aren't getting any younger, but he keeps himself in remarkable physical condition and would be a perfect foil for some of United's young attacking talent. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial using their pace to support the big Swede is a tantalising proposition.

It's actually £150m that Mourinho will be given to spend at Manchester United, says The Guardian. A host of big names across Europe are in Jose's sights, with Everton centre-back John Stones an obvious solution to the team's defensive problems in Mourinho's eyes. An out-and-out goalscorer is something that the Portuguese coach has always wanted in his squads throughout his career, and Juventus' Alvaro Morata is one of the best options available in this summer's transfer window. Morata's Juve team-mates Alex Sandro and Paul Pogba are also targets.
Paper Round’s view: Bored of the speculation yet? Mourinho isn't even at United and the list of possible transfer targets is already painfully long. There's little doubt that players of the quality of Morata and Pogba would improve United, but would Stones really be an upgrade at the back? He's got a lot of talent, but there's been little evidence in Stones' Everton career that he has the positional discipline and error-free reliability that Mourinho demands of his central defenders.

Pep urges City to sign injured Gundogan

Manchester City are likely to sign midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, despite the player's dislocated knee cap - reports The Telegraph. The injury-plagued Borussia Dortmund player has been ruled out of the summer's European Championships and will also be unavailable for the start of the next domestic season with his latest setback. However, new City boss Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the central midfielder and wants the club to take a risk and sign him regardless of his current fitness.
Paper Round’s view: At what point do you give up on a perennially injured player? Gundogan is a wonderfully gifted holding player and would be absolutely perfect at the base of City's midfield... if he can get fit. But that's a big if. This painful knee cap problem is the latest in a string of issues for the Germany international and there has to come a point when his world-class potential is outweighed by the fragile reality of his physique. It would be a crying shame if we never get to see Gundogan reach his ceiling, but it won't be the first time in football that a supremely talented player has had his career held back by his own body.

Klopp wants Drinkwater at Liverpool

Danny Drinkwater's title-winning performances at the base of Leicester City's midfield have caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp - according to The Mirror. Drinkwater is currently with the England squad after being called up by Roy Hodgson ahead of Euro 2016, but it's his performances for his club that have truly impressed Klopp, who has reportedly had his analysis team look into the details of Drinkwater's success. Leicester are unlikely to be happy to let their central midfielder go, while Manchester United are also believed to be interested if a transfer is on the cards.
Paper Round’s view: Leicester have only been Premier League champions for a matter of weeks and already the papers are intent on seeing their best players move elsewhere. Liverpool can offer Drinkwater more money and more prestige than Leicester, but the player knows he fits perfectly into the system at Leicester, where he will also be playing Champions League football next season. So why move? It would be a particularly odd decision given that Emre Can has emerged as an effective holding midfielder at Liverpool over the last few months, meaning that 'Drinky' would have direct competition from a Germany international if he opted to head to Anfield. This one should be a non-starter.
