Guardiola was speaking to the media after City beat Borussia Dortmund on penalties in the international Champions Cup in Shenzhen Stadium.
Sane, 20, is a forward who is expected to join City in a deal worth £42m. He was a member of the Germany squad which reached the semi-finals at Euro 2016.
Stones, 22, will reportedly cost £50m if City do sign him from Everton, with Guardiola speaking openly of the club’s pursuit of both young talents.
"Sane is a player from Schalke. If he comes, we'll be happy. If he stays, I'll be happy for the Schalke fans," Guardiola told a media conference.
"[In Stones' case,] it's the same answer for Sane - he's a player for Everton. Everyone knows we're going to try but we will see."
Guardiola, who on Wednesday played down reports that some City players had turned up for pre-season overweight, revealed that midfielder Samir Nasri did not play on the tour because of his weight.
"He arrived a little bit overweight, but he's much better now," he said.
"Last season, he was injured. We want to avoid that. We want the players on the pitch to be fit ... Hopefully, in the next two weeks he will be OK."
