Danny Rose grabbed a late equaliser as Tottenham maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool.
The left-back lashed a skewed shot in at the near post 18 minutes from time to rescue a point after the Merseysiders had deservedly led through James Milner's spot-kick.
Liverpool will rue missed chances and a failure to make the most of good openings in the final third as they once again struggled to keep an opponent at bay under late pressure.

Tottenham had hoped to make their best start to a season since 2010 but struggled to test Simon Mignolet until deep into the second half, with Harry Kane's barren run in the month of August continuing as he cut a frustrated figure in attack.
The Lilywhites' winless streak against the Reds may have stretched to eight matches but Mauricio Pochettino and his squad will be delighted to have snatched a result here after failing to find the rhythm and overall tenacity that saw them press for the title last term.
Liverpool head into the international break with an average haul of four points from three league away games and have more work to do defensively prior to their first match at Anfield since the main stand renovation against champion, Leicester City on September 10.

TALKING POINT - Liverpool's defensive frustration.

The stats show Liverpool have scored more Premier League goals than anyone else in 2016 but they struggle to keep them out too. At Arsenal on the opening weekend an emphatic 4-1 lead turned into a nail-biting 4-3 success - and they couldn't hold firm here.

At 1-0 you always fancy the opposition to have chances against the Reds' rearguard, and when you don't finish off a number of good situations, you are going to be punished. Klopp is still searching for the right balance between attack and defence and will be frustrated not to have come away with all three points at White Hart Lane.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Roberto Firmino (Liverpool). A livewire who has struck up a fine understanding with Mane and Coutinho. Created a number of good openings for his team-mates and gave a display that justified Klopp's decision to make him the focal point of his attack instead of Sturridge or Origi.

KEY MOMENTS

6' - LIVERPOOL CHANCE! Liverpool press high, allowing Mane to play Firmino into a dangerous position in the area. The Brazilian shows great awareness to turn and tee up Coutinho who somehow doesn't score from eight yards out. The forward lets fly with a low effort that Vorm manages to keep out with a desperate, outstretched leg. Remarkable goalkeeping, but it'll go down as a miss.
43' - GOAL! TOTTENHAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL. Milner steps up and fires a low penalty into the left-hand corner he is facing. Vorm dives the other way and Liverpool have a deserved lead based upon chances created. The penalty was awarded after Lamela was adjudged to have clipped the heels of Firmino by the left byline.
53' - LIVERPOOL CHANCE! Matip almost makes it a PL bow to remember as he rises above Vertonghen and flicks a header from Milner's left-wing corner just over.
62' - TOTTENHAM CHANCE! Eriksen arrives late in the box to side-foot Dier's clever cutback from the right a few yards wide of target. A good chance wasted.
65' - TOTTENHAM CHANCE! Toby Alderweireld rises to meet Eriksen's left-wing corner with a bullet header that Mignolet does well to push away at his near post.
72' - GOAL! TOTTENHAM 1-1 LIVERPOOL. Spurs are level. Danny Rose latches onto a flick-on to squeeze a sliced shot in at the near post after good play from Dier down the right.
90+1' - LIVERPOOL CHANCE! Brilliant work from Firmino as he glides down the left and cuts it back for Wijnaldum who sees his deflected effort just about kept out by Vorm.
