Tottenham Hotspur scored three goals in six minutes against Manchester United to record a first home victory against the Red Devils for 15 years and keep their title hopes alive.
A tight match, sparse on chances, was deadlocked until the 70th minute before Dele Alli converted Christian Eriksen’s cross at the far post to spark a rush of three goals in the space of six minutes.
The impressive Toby Alderweireld was the next Spurs player to benefit from a quality ball into the box, heading home Erik Lamela’s cross.
And the Argentine playmaker, who missed an absolute sitter in the opening half, completed the rout himself by sweeping home Danny Rose’s cross.

The result means that Spurs cut Leicester City’s lead at the top of the table to seven points with five games remaining.
For United, defeat means they suffer a setback in the race for Champions League football, Louis van Gaal’s team are now four points behind rivals Manchester City.

TALKING POINT

Fosu-Mensah’s injury the turning point? The United right back had looked excellent until forced to leave the field. Replacement Matteo Darmian was slow to adjust to the pace of the game, twice caught out by crosses from the left and his foul led to the free kick for the second.
