Song, 27, spent last season on loan at the Hammers after failing to nail down a regular starting spot with the Spanish champions, who he joined from Arsenal for a reported £15 million fee.
He made 31 appearances for the Hammers last season and scored three times in the league.
"It has just been confirmed. Alex Song has signed a season long loan deal to join West Ham. Welcome back Alex," Hammers' chairman David Gold said on Twitter.
"I am very happy. For me it was very important to come back because when I was here I had a great rapport with the fans and the club," Song said. "It was a very easy choice for me to come back here and I'm very happy to be here.
"When I left I didn't know I would come back here. It was not easy but at the end of the day, the most important thing is I'm here now and I'm very happy. I feel at home, everything feels at home, for my family too, they're set up very well here. My kids are playing for West Ham academy."

MOSES JOINS ON LOAN, SIGNS CHELSEA DEAL

Chelsea forward Moses also signed on loan before lunchtime, the 24-year-old continuing his loan career away from Stamford Bridge following spells with Liverpool and Stoke City.
Moses also signed a new four-year contract at Chelsea - a show of faith in he player who impressed during pre-season.

JELAVIC MAKES IT THREE

Hull City striker Jelavic made it a hat-trick of deadline day signings as he completed a reported £3 million move to link up with compatriot Slaven Bilic.
Jelavic, 30, joined Hull for £6.5m from Everton in January 2014 and has scored 13 goals in 45 league games for the Tigers.
The Hammers are hoping to tie up two other signings before the close of the transfer window.

AND ANTONIO WRAPS THINGS UP

West Ham's fourth signing of the day was winger Michail Antonio from Championship club Nottingham Forest.
Antonio signed for Forest for £1.5m from Sheffield Wednesday in 2014 and made 50 league appearances for the club, scoring 12 times.
