Jamie Vardy scored his fifth goal in five games as revitalised English champions Leicester enjoyed a sixth win on the bounce in a 2-0 victory over doomed Sunderland.
Marc Albrighton made all the difference as he set up fellow substitute Islam Slimani to nod home the opener on 69 minutes.
Leicester then showed the hallmark of last season's title-winning season as they broke up the park with Albrighton leaving Billy Jones for dead before finding England striker Vardy to thump a blistering shot beyond Jordan Pickford in the visiting goal to seal matters 12 minutes from the end.
The result sees Leicester move up to 10th in the table on 36 points from 30 matches, safe from relegation and on course for a respectable top-half finish, but Sunderland remain bottom of the table under the frazzled David Moyes, whose side are eight points adrift of safety and destined for the drop.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare becomes the first British manager to win his first five Premier League matches in charge of a team, strengthening his case for a long-term deal at the end of the season.
Indeed, only Italian Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and Manchester City's Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, with six apiece, have enjoyed a better start.

TALKING POINT

Super subs the difference for Leicester. Sunderland had arguably had the better of things before Craig Shakespeare brought on Albrighton and Slimani for Ndidi and Drinkwater just the hour-mark. A little over 15 minutes later and they had turned the game on its head. Is Shakespeare the new tinker man?

MAN OF THE MATCH

Mark Albrighton (Leicester City) A brilliant cross set up the first for Slimani and a fantastic piece of skill, turning Jones before delivering another pinpoint pass for Vardy, settled matters. Like the majority of the Leicester squad, he is right back to the levels of last season.

KEY MOMENTS

44’ – PICKFORD SAVE! It’s a good effort from Gray on his right foot and it takes a fantastic fingertip save from the Sunderland keeper to keep the scores level.
69’ – GOAL! Leicester 1-0 Sunderland: Albrighton’s cross is headed home by Slimani! One substitute produces for another.
77’ – POST! Anichebe’s shot deflects onto the post with Schmeichel beaten and Defoe’s follow up shot is into the side netting.
78’ – GOAL! Leicester 2-0 Sunderland: Vardy seals it after superb work from Albrighton, beating Jones before his cross falls straight into the striker’s path.

KEY STATS

Craig Shakespeare becomes the third person, after Carlo Ancelotti (6, 2009) and Pep Guardiola (6, 2016), to win his first five Premier League matches as a manager.
All six of Islam Slimani's PL goals have been scored at King Power Stadium, with five of them headers (also one penalty).

Jamie Vardy has scored five goals in his last five PL appearances (incl. tonight), after netting five times in his first 22 PL matches this season.
Marc Albrighton is the third substitute to provide two assists in a PL match this season, after Santi Cazorla in Arsenal's 4-3 home defeat against Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season, and Kamil Grosicki in Hull City's 2-1 home win versus West Ham United last Saturday.
Leicester equal the club PL record of five consecutive victories, set from March to April 2016. The fifth match of that run was a 2-0 win at Sunderland.
