Jose Mourinho has insisted Wayne Rooney is still very much part of his plans at Manchester United after dropping the forward for the 4-1 victory over Leicester City.

The Portuguese was asked about the club captain following a comprehensive win at Old Trafford as his team went 4-0 up before half-time and seemed to be much more fluid than in previous weeks.
Asked whether the 30-year-old was still an important player for him, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “A big player for me, a big player for United and a big player for this country. I have nothing else to say. He’s my man: I trust him completely.”
He also talked up his side following a mixed start to the season, where they lost three games on the trot, and a poor campaign last time out under Louis van Gaal.
He added: “To be back home and beat the champions is good; last season we couldn't beat them but this time we have beaten them twice. We lost six Premier League points but the reality is we aren't drawing we are winning and have 12 points.
"Today was about the happiness of the fans, I don't know the last time they had such an impressive performance by half-time."
Mourinho also praised his opposite number Claudio Ranieri after the Italian withdrew Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez at the break, with the score at 4-0. "Ranieri did very well at half time, he saw the necessary changes to not lose in a heavier way."
