"Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Gabriel Jesus," read a statement on the club's website.
The 19-year-old agreed a move from his homeland to the Etihad Stadium back in the summer and had joined up with City earlier this month, yet his registration with his new club did not go through in time for him to make the squad for last weekend's trip to Everton.
City unveiled Jesus as Pep Guardiola's sixth signing on Thursday morning and he could make his debut against Spurs on Saturday.
"I want to win titles and Manchester City is a club that is used to winning," Jesus told the club's official website.
"City is a club that always competes for the title in the competitions it enters, so that was an important factor, and because of the manager, Guardiola, and the squad."
Jesus, who can play anywhere across the front three, made his senior debut for Palmeiras in 2015, and helped the Sao Paulo club to a ninth Brazilian league title in late November.
“Gabriel is a technically gifted player who was chased by some of Europe’s biggest clubs and we are delighted he decided to join City," City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain said of the transfer.
