Kompany, 30, suffered yet another injury setback during City’s midweek League Cup win, also against the Swans.
Although the club has remained quiet on a return date, they revealed – with relief – that it was not a recurrence of the calf problem that blighted his campaign last season.
Kompany is the joint-most injury prone defender in the Premier League since 2012, according to a report in The Telegraph.

OUR VIEW

How long can the injury woes continue?
He might have a future at City – his quality when fit is undoubted – but surely not one as captain. Pep Guardiola needs to build a cohesive unit, even if that is one with the Belgian on the fringes. We’ve seen the Spaniard’s ruthlessness in the past; it would not be at all surprising if Kompany’s time as a guaranteed starter is over.
