Inter won't say no in chase for Antonio Conte

Inter Milan are refusing to take no for an answer in their chase for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. Inter have new owners and are happy to spend in order to reassert the club back at the top of European football. To that end, they have offered Conte £10m a year in order to leave Chelsea. At his most recent press conference, Conte only discussed the immediate future, not his long term one, and he has yet to agree a new contract with Chelsea.

Paper Rounds' view: The stories of Conte's future have only become more frequent, suggesting that all is not quite right at Stamford Bridge. Having said that, it's been right enough to almost certainly secure a Premier League title at his first attempt. Given money means little to either Chelsea or Inter, perhaps the decision will come down to whether Conte would prefer a return to Italy.

Mourinho expects to give Wenger an easy ride

After branding him a 'specialist in failure', Jose Mourinho has said that Arsenal boss will finally be pleased to see him this weekend. The reason is that following Manchester United's win at Celta Vigo, Mourinho is set to rest most of his players who took part in that game. Mourinho said: “I think he will be pleased with me that I am going to change my team at Arsenal. I think he will be happy with me.”
Paper Rounds' view: Mourinho managed to wreck Liverpool's title chances when the then-Chelsea manager turned up with a weakened side, and it would be no surprise to see Mourinho set up his team to pull up another shock. It is hard, in truth, to imagine any circumstances in which Wenger will be pleased to see Mourinho, though their relationship has slightly thawed now that neither has a chance of winning the league this season.

Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez to quit Leicester

Riyad Mahrez was key to the success of Leicester City last season, but in their second-season slump, he fell out with their former boss Claudio Ranieir. things have improved since his departure, and Mahrez has managed to score 11 goals this season. However, that has not prevented him from choosing to force a move away in the summer. Marseille are expected to strengthen this summer, but are only sixth in Ligue 1.
Paper Rounds' view: Now that Leicester are unlikely to see Champions League football for many years, most of their players will look to trade off the back of their single success. Mahrez has spent time in France before, and may prefer the lifestyle of Marseille to Leicester. Kasper Schmeichel, one of this season's consistent performances, could also be tempted to make a move away as he hits his thirties.

City face academy signing ban

Manchester City have received a ban and fine from the Premier League after breaching academy rules. That is a blow to City, who have invested millions in revamping their training ground and youth team structure, with the emphasis on being able to eventually produce their own stars. In a statement, the Premier League said: "“Manchester City will pay a fine of £300,000 and will be prohibited from registering any Academy players in the Under 10 to Under 18 age range who have been registered with a Premier League or EFL club in the preceding 18 months. This ban will last for two years."
Paper Rounds' view: Breaking youth team rules either matter or they don't. £300,000 as a ban means almost nothing for a club as rich as City, so that will not put them off at all. Seconly, the transfer ban is suspended, meaning that essentially there has been no meaningful punishment put in place to dissuade City or anyone else in the long term.
