Manchester United are closing in on a move for Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic whilst Alvaro Morata is still Chelsea's top target. It's Tuesday's Paper Roun

Man Utd closing in on Perisic

We start with The Telegraph who are one of a number of outlets reporting that Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ivan Perisic. The Croatian hopes to be excused from Inter Milan's tour to China as he moves to complete a move to United that could rise to £44 million. The signing won't impact United's push for a defensive midfielder with Nemanja Matic still a target.
Paper Round's view: This is another intelligent signing from United. They didn't score enough goals last season and Perisic is a versatile and goal-scoring midfielder. He brings something different to the United midfield and will put a lot of pressure on Juan Mata.

Morata still Chelsea's top target

We move to The Mail where it is reported that despite an enquiry for Sergio Aguero, which was rebuffed, Chelsea's primary striking target remains Alvaro Morata. Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko but still need a forward and the report says that Morata is the first-choice ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti. However free-spending AC Milan are in the same boat and will provide competition for the Spaniard.
Paper Round's view: It's hard to believe that many people thought that Chelsea had any chance of signing Aguero. City are under no financial pressure to sell and are hardly going to sell their rivals. Losing Morata to Milan would be a massive blow for the Blues though particularly given how they've already lost out on Romelu Lukaku.

Wilshere set for Palace loan

Meanwhile in The Sun it is reported that Jack Wilshere could be about to sign a new contract with Arsenal and then go out on loan to Crystal Palace for the season. Wilshere will be sold if he does not sign the deal with Arsenal keen to avoid losing the midfielder on a free.
Paper Round's view: Wilshere needs a permanent move, another loan move just isn't good enough. Is he really going to break back into the Arsenal team next summer? It seems unlikely. Clinging on to that hope seems like a mistake.

Arsenal told to pay record fee for Lemar

We end with The Mirror who report that if Arsenal want to sign Thomas Lemar they are going to have to break their transfer record for the second time this window with Monaco demanding £80 million for the forward. Arsenal are confident of the deal being done but will have to sell with David Ospina, Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Lucas Perez and Olivier Giroud all uncertain of their future.
Paper Round's view: Lemar is a hugely talented player but it seems unlikely Arsenal will pay £80 million for him. It does however seem possible that the deal could be done and he could be a good fit to play behind Alexandre Lacazette with Mesut Ozil should Alexis Sanchez leave. If Sanchez stays then that is a very exciting front four indeed.
