Manchester United are lining up bids for Eric Dier and Antoine Griezmann as captain Wayne Rooney prepares to head for the exit. It's Friday's Paper Round.

United prepare Dier and Griezmann bids

We start with the back page of The Times which reports that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told Ed Woodward that the club needs to strengthen in four positions with Eric Dier and Antoine Griezmann two of the main targets. Michael Keane, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Romelu Lukaku are all also being monitored as United hope that qualification for the Champions League will give them further clout.
Paper Round's view: United's qualification for next season's Champions League was always going to result in a big transfer splurge and it's evident that Mourinho feels the team still need a lot of additions. Every single name on this list from the Times makes perfect sense. It'll be interesting to see just how many they are able to sign.

Rooney set for United exit and prefers Everton amid bids from China

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney looks set to leave the club in the summer and the Mail reports that he has two offers on the table from China that would see him earn around £50 million over two years, or £480,000 a week. However, the report suggests that Rooney would prefer a return to Everton even if they can't match the riches of China.
Paper Round's view: Wayne Rooney has earned plenty of money during his career. Furthermore the Mail's report says that Everton would offer him £150,000 a week, so it's not as if he'll be in any financial trouble... Surely there's only one option here for Rooney?

Arsenal up offer to Sanchez

According to a report in The Mirror, Arsenal have upped their offer to Alexis Sanchez. The Gunners are keen to not sell Sanchez in the summer, even if that means losing him on a free in the summer but they have offered him a contract worth £270,000 a week. Manchester City are still reportedly confident of signing the Chilean while Bayern have supposedly been in contact.
Paper Round's view: £270,000 is a huge offer, particular given Arsenal's historic wage ceiling but the Gunners are paying the price for allowing Sanchez's contract to run down (they should watch how Spurs operate in that regard), and now the ball is firmly in Sanchez's court...

Monk and Karanka set for job switch

According to a report in the Star Garry Monk could be set to join Middlesbrough after resigning at Leeds United, while former Boro boss Aitor Karanka could take over at Elland Road. Monk resigned on Thursday citing difference with the club's new owner Andrea Radrizzani.
Paper Round's view: It doesn't matter what Radrizzani says on Twitter or in the press, he simply had to try harder to keep Monk at the club. Monk's transformative effect at Leeds was simply incredible and he was building something special. After everything that went on in the last season of Massimo Cellino's reign it's incredible that Radrizzani's ownership has got off to such a negative start.
