Watford fight back to hold Bournemouth
Updated 01/10/2016 at 17:20 GMT
Premier League, Vicarage Road – Watford 2 (Deeney 50, Success 65) Bournemouth 2 (Wilson 31, King 62)
Watford twice came from behind to take a share of the points in an entertaining encounter at Vicarage Road.
Callum Wilson headed the Cherries into a half-time lead before Troy Deeney levelled shortly after the break.
Jack Wilshere rattled the post before Bournemouth’s pressure was rewarded with a second from substitute Josh King, his deflected shot leaving Heurelho Gomes stranded with his first contribution to the game.
The lead lasted barely a minute before Watford sub Isaac Success headed Watford level as the match ended with a familiar result. Five of the last six meetings between the sides have now been drawn, including the two Premier League fixtures.
Both sides can reflect on missing chances to win it, Wilshere squandering a glorious chance with the goal at his mercy, Deeney denied a second by a fabulous Artur Boruc save and Junior Stanislas clattering the bar with a late free kick.
TALKING POINT
How did Wilshere miss? The former Arsenal midfielder looked a certainty to put Bournemouth 3-2 ahead with little over 10 minutes remaining but somehow planted Smith’s cross wide with the goal at his mercy.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Adam Smith (Bournemouth): A fantastic performance form the right-back, constantly causing problems with his runs and crosses down the right flank. On another day, could have had a goal and a couple of assists.
