Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial both scored as Manchester United beat Burnley to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in fourth place in the Premier League.
Manchester United started without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, giving Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial a chance to start.
Rooney had an early shot, but it was Martial who gave United a lead. Just before half time, Martial was involved again, as his blocked shot was forced home by Rooney for his third league goal of the season.

In the second half, United attempted to keep the ball, and Burnley couldn't use the pace of Andre Gray when there was little space to exploit between defence and the goal.
United have cut the gap between them and Manchester City, in fourth to a single point, while Burnley stay only five points above the relegation zone. United's only concern will be Paul Pogba limping off just before the end of the match.

TALKING POINT

Does Wayne Rooney have enough in him to help United in his final few games? Rooney has been off the pace for years, and especially poor this season, but his performance against Burnley was acceptable. More than that, he looks a much less frustrated figure with his own play (if not referees) - perhaps knowing his time at United is at an end will help him relax and perform better in the remaining fixtures.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Anthony Martial (Manchester United): Like Rooney, Martial has struggled to make his future at Old Trafford certain. More performances like this would help Jose Mourinho make his mind up. In the past, he has seemed almost scared to get involved in the game, but against Burnley his willingness and opportunity to attack down the middle gave him the chance to use not just his pace, but his strength and calmness in front of goal.

KEY EVENTS

9' - ROONEY CHANCE - Rooney finds Martial's run down the left. He drives into the box, plays it to Herrera who passes inside again for Rooney, but he stubs a poor shot against Mee, and Heaton gets down to save.
12' - FELLAINI HEADER - Fellaini gets to the ball at the back post, but his firm header is straight at Heaton.
21' - GOAL! Burnley 0-1 Manchester United. Martial scores - Barnes clips in a free kick and United clear it for a while. Brady sends in a cross, and United finally break this time, with Martial down the middle of the pitch. Martial plays it off to the right for Herrera, who sends back a cross into his pass, and slides it past Heaton.
39' - GOAL! Burnley 0-2 Manchester United. Rooney scores - Pogba holds Barton off as the ball bounces, and Barton is penalised for tugging on him. United go up the other end, but Martial's cross is blocked. It drops to Pogba, who slips in Martial on the inside left. His shot squeezes just under Heaton, and bobbles in front of the net. Rooney arrives on the scene and nudges it into the goal.
53' - POGBA SHOT - Pogba takes a shot from well outside the box, and it catches Heaton by surprise, forcing him into a smart save to push it away.
88' - ROONEY SHOT - Rooney seizes on a loose pass about 25 yards out, and with little else on, he drills a shot wide of the post.
