Crystal Palace have announced the appointment of former Ajax boss Frank de Boer as their new manager on a three-year deal.

Palace hinted they were ready to announce the appointment early on Monday morning when they tweeted a video of plumes of white smoke - albeit from a Caribbean takeaway in Croydon, not the Vatican.
The club called a press conference for 2pm and De Boer was confirmed as the new boss. De Boer, who won 112 caps for Netherlands during a playing career which included stints with Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers, is the replacement for Sam Allardyce, who quit at the end of last season after steering Palace clear of danger.
Chairman Steve Parish said:
We have undertaken a thorough interview process to ensure we are in a position to appoint a manager of the calibre and experience that Frank brings with him. I am pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace and I know he cannot wait to get started and prepare for our record breaking fifth season in the top flight.
De Boer had also been mentioned as a contender for the Southampton job, but Saints opted for Manuel Pellegrino, who Palace had also shortlisted this summer.
The Dutchman’s most recent posting was a disastrous and short spell as Inter Milan manager, which ended in November after only 14 games in charge.
But he is highly regarded after winning four Eredivisie titles with Ajax between 2011 and 2014 – a run of success which saw him linked with Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham.
De Boer also turned down the chance to replace Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool in 2012, with the club settling for Brendan Rodgers after being rebuffed by De Boer.
He told the club's website:
I am thrilled to be appointed as manager of Crystal Palace Football Club. It is a great honour to take charge of such an historic club, a club that is known around the world for its hugely proud and passionate fan base. This role is a hugely exciting opportunity for me, and I cannot wait to get started in the Premier League with the players and staff here in south London.
