David Moyes had a dugout return to forget as his West Ham side slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Watford in the Premier League.
It was Watford who got off to the best start, when Will Hughes - making only his second Premier League start - put them ahead after 11 minutes.
The hosts needed Heurelho Gomes' brilliant double save from Marko Arnautovic on the stroke of half-time to keep them level as West Ham showed some spirit to stay in the game.
In the second half, Richarlison strode into the box to double their lead. Arnautovic then suffered a painful looking arm injury, which gave West Ham eight minutes of added time to try in vain to find a goal.
The win sees Watford leapfrog Brighton into eighth place, while Moyes' new side remain on nine points in the relegation zone.
Rumours also suggested that Watford's Marco Silva might soon be leaving Watford for Everton as the Toffees look for a new permanent manager.

TALKING POINT

David Moyes has taken on a desperately tough job. Moyes is not a naturally inspiring man, but somehow has to reinvigorate a side that struggle both in attack and defence. With Marko Arnautovic now possibly out for a weeks with an arm injury, West Ham's approach will be even more stifled and prosaic.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Richarlison (Watford): The Brazilian is just 20 and yet displays some of the best characteristics of the modern attacking footballer. Not only is he physically strong and quick, but he can take rough tackles without losing his cool. He is an aerial threat, but that is allied to excellent technique. It would be no surprise to see such a promising player move to a bigger club as soon as January.
