Jese Rodriguez scored the winner on his debut as Stoke City defeated Arsenal 1-0 with a resolute effort.
The Spaniard joined on loan from PSG on Wednesday, but got off to the dream start when he latched onto Saido Berahino's through ball 90 seconds after half-time to finish past Petr Cech.

Stoke had their chances but they were grateful to Jack Butland in goal for a series of superb saves as well as an impressive performance from the on-loan Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
For Arsenal Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil did their best to try and create something but they just couldn't find a way through.
Record-signing Alexandre Lacazette had the ball in the net late on with a thunderous finish following a wonderful flick from substitute Olivier Giroud but it was ruled out for offside.

TALKING POINT

Mark Hughes' home for mercurial talent is open for business again. Mark Hughes prides himself on his ability to get the best out of players who have struggled elsewhere and he might be able to do it again with Jese.
Over the last couple of seasons Bojan, Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Arnautovic have shone under the Welshman and now Jese and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be hoping he can have a similar impact on their careers. Injury really stalled Jese's progress at Real Madrid and at Las Palmas question marks over his commitment started to surface. It's early days but he has gotten off to the perfect start and Stoke could have a real player on their hands if he starts firing on all cylinders.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Jack Butland (Stoke City): It could have gone to either Zouma or Jese, but Butland was the key to this victory. In the first period, he made two excellent saves with his chest before showing good reactions at close range in the second.
Aerially he was impressive and he showed no fear in coming to challenge for balls. It's massive for Stoke to have him back and it's really important for Butland that he hits the ground running. Joe Hart hasn't started his time at West Ham well so it looks as if the competition for England's No.1 spot in the Autumn internationals could be between Butland and Everton's Jordan Pickford.

PLAYER RATINGS

Stoke City - Butland 8, Diouf 6, Zouma 8, Shawcross 7, Cameron 5, Pieters 6, Allen 6, Fletcher 6, Shaqiri 5, Chuopo-Moting 5, Jese 7. Subs: Berahino 6, Sobhi 5, Martins Indi 5.
Arsenal - Cech 6, Oxlade-Chamberlain 5, Mustafi 5, Monreal 4, Kolasinac 5, Bellerin 6, Xhaka 5, Ramsey 6, Ozil 6, Welbeck 5, Lacazette 6. Subs: Giroud 6, Iwobi 5, Walcott 4.

KEY MOMENTS

28' - SAVE! Great ball to the back post by Oxlade-Chamberlain from a free-kick and someone has lost Ramsey. Once again Butland is out brilliantly to save. Judging by Fletcher's reaction I'd say that Berahino was the man.
47' - GOAL! STOKE 1-0 ARSENAL (JESE) What a goal that is! Jese starts the move. Slips it out wide to Berahino. Jese keeps running and Berahino plays it through to him and the Spaniard finishes low past Cech first-time. The new boy is up and running.

62' - GREAT SAVE! Wonderful from Pieters as Fletcher sets him away. He holds off crossing until he sees Berahino make a run. Then he whips it in and Berahino beats his man and heads it into the ground. Cech makes a great save to tip it over. Jese sends in the corner and it goes off Bellerin and out for another one. Jese will take again...
72' - OFFSIDE GOAL! Welbeck fires it into Giroud's feet and another clever flick finds Lacazette. He fires it into the roof of the net but the flag is up. That is really, really tight. I'm not 100% either way.
84' - Andre Marriner has not had a particularly good couple of minutes. First he fails to blow for a foul on Oxlade-Chamberlain by Sobhi. Pieters then nicks the ball and is cleaned out by Mustafi and he waves play on. Replays show both situations were fouls. Mustafi gets a bit of the ball but that was reckless.

KEY STATS

Arsenal haven't started a Premier League season with back-to-back wins since 2009/10.
This was the highest possession figure that Arsenal have had in a single Premier League match since 2003-04 (77.3%).
Jesé is the third player to score a goal on his Premier League debut for Stoke , after Ricardo Fuller & Michael Kightly.
