Real Madrid believe they will sign Harry Kane, Manchester United want both Casemiro and Alex Grimaldo, and David Moyes may come back to Everton.

Real confident of Kane swoop

Real Madrid are confident of signing Harry Kane in the summer. The Spurs striker recently said that he could, 'never say never,' to a move abroad, and Real think that the 24-year-old England international would not be able to turn down the chance to challenge for both European and domestic trophies. Kane recently swapped shirts with Cristiano Ronaldo, and could now end up replacing him as Real's talisman.

Paper Round's view: There is no evidence presented to suggest that this story has much truth to it, nor does it suggest that Kane really wishes to leave White Hart Lane. The story also suggests that Mauricio Pochettino could be in line to replace Zinedine Zidane should he leave, and refers to him as, 'the Argie,' which is a little incongruous in the pages of the biggest selling newspaper in Britain. The story can probably be taken with a pinch of salt.

Mourinho targets Casemiro

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to improve his side after Saturday's defeat to Huddersfield Town. One player he wants is 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro. Mourinho is convinced he can offer creativity from the middle of the pitch, and is ready to offer him the same £290,000 weekly wage that Paul Pogba receives. However, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, having tried to sign him in the summer.

Paper Round's view: Neymar's presence at PSG should make it easier, along with all the other Brazilian players at the Parc des Princes, to convince Casemiro to make the move. But Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, and Casemiro features prominently in the side most weeks - there is no reason to think that he would be interested in leaving the club, especially with a contract that runs until 2021.

And United also line up Grimaldo

Mourinho has also identified a left-back to reinforce his defence. Alex Grimaldo moved to Benfica for £1.5m, but the 22-year-old international has excelled at the Stadium of Light. The Spanish defender has impressed United's scouts who make regular visits to Portugal to find transfer targets, and are ready to meet the £36m asking price as Luke Shaw continues to struggle in the reserves.

Paper Round's view: Shaw appears to have thrown away his Old Trafford career with a mixture of indiscipline and a lack of application, and the game against Huddersfield highlighted how poor United's first-choice defenders are, too. While central defence might be the priority, Benfica's disappointing Champions League showing means they might countenance a winter transfer window sale.

Everton consider Moyes comeback

Everton are considering the return of David Moyes as manager. Moyes maintains good relations with Bill Kenwright, and there is a chance that he could come back to Goodison Park to replace the under-pressure Ronald Koeman. Everton had expected Koeman to challenge near the top of the table after the money spent, but Everton are in disarray and disjointed despite the financial outlay.

Paper Round's view: Farhad Moshiri would likely have the final say, and it does not yet appear that he is losing patience with Koeman. It would be a risky ploy to bring back Moyes, who had lost the faith of many Everton fans with his conservative approach to football, and the consistent lack of entertainment in his style of player. Nevertheless, he could make a swift readjustment to the club if he was brought back.
