Romelu Lukaku scored for a second successive game as Manchester United saw off West Bromwich Albion.
United took the lead with a Lukaku header and doubled their advantage with a deflected Jessie Lingard effort.
In the second half, United were lucky to avoid conceding a penalty when Ashley Young barged James McClean out of the path of David de Gea in the box, but the visitors did eventually concede when Gareth Barry stabbed home from a set piece - their third goal conceded in this manner in three games.
Jonny Evans and Lukaku both had chances to score with only minutes remaining, but United held on for victory. West Brom will go bottom if Swansea defeat Everton tomorrow.
United cut Manchester City's lead at the top to 11 points after their 4-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday.

TALKING POINT

Despite being a Jose Mourinho side, Manchester United are better when they attack. They might still have lost to Manchester City with the same attitude as they showed today, but they would have likely got more out of the games against Liverpool and Chelsea. Mourinho is right to want to bring in more defenders, but he will find success taking more risks in attack, not covering for his side's weakness as at the back.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Nemanja Matic (Manchester United): Some people claim that he doesn't influence the game enough for a midfielder, but against the best opposition he provides defensive maturity and intelligence. Against West Brom, his attacking influence in the final third allowed United to overload a crowded home defence.
