Jussi Jaaskelainen will stay at Bolton Wanderers despite interest from a number of Premiership clubs.
Aston Villa and Sunderland were known to be chasing the Finnish goalkeeper, but he has decided to stay at the Reebok Stadium for the final year of his contract.
"Jussi has decided that he is going to see out the final year of his contract and assess the situation after that," said Jaaskelainen's agent Peter Harrison.
"I've spoken to [manager] Sammy Lee and he is delighted."
The decision may prove a mixed blessing for the Trotters, who were in line to collect up to £5 million for the 32-year-old had they sold him this summer.
However, he will be free to negotiate with other clubs from January and will be eligible for a Bosman free transfer next year.
Jaaskelainen was one of the players of the season as Bolton claimed seventh place in the Premiership, securing a UEFA Cup place.
