AS state the 27-year-old’s move to the Bernabeu has been agreed by all parties and he will replace Pepe in the Madrid squad, with the Portuguese international’s contract expiring this summer and having not taken up the club’s offer of a one-year extension.
Monteiro joined Porto last summer following a five-year stay at Corinthians and has excelled in his first season in European football, impressing Madrid scouts who have tracked his progress in recent months.
The central defender has played 24 matches for the Dragoes this campaign and his impressive performances have earned him a call up to the Brazilian national side.
