Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign FC Porto's Brazilian defender Felipe Monteiro, according to a report in Spain.
AS state the 27-year-old’s move to the Bernabeu has been agreed by all parties and he will replace Pepe in the Madrid squad, with the Portuguese international’s contract expiring this summer and having not taken up the club’s offer of a one-year extension.
Monteiro joined Porto last summer following a five-year stay at Corinthians and has excelled in his first season in European football, impressing Madrid scouts who have tracked his progress in recent months.
The central defender has played 24 matches for the Dragoes this campaign and his impressive performances have earned him a call up to the Brazilian national side.
The report also states the good relations between the two clubs and that the Portuguese giants would be willing to sell to help clear their sizable debt.
